News: Rising Star Pastiche Returns With Bold New Single ‘Calories’

Fresh off being named RTE 2FM’s Rising Artist for 2025, Dublin alt-pop artist Pastiche returns with a fiery new single, ‘Calories’, released March 20. It’s the first taste of her upcoming EP, Femme Fatality, and a powerful statement from an artist who’s quickly cementing herself as one of Ireland’s most exciting pop voices.

The creative alias of Jade Roche, Pastiche has been steadily gaining traction with her fearless approach to pop, combining punchy production with deeply personal storytelling. With ‘Calories’, she takes a concept often loaded with negativity and flips it into an empowering, high-energy anthem about self-confidence, sexuality, and pushing boundaries.

“I originally came into the studio with the title ‘Calories’ expecting to write a darker song about my relationship with food,” she explains. “But it started to feel a bit too heavy that day, so we turned it on its head. I wanted to take something that holds a lot of shame and spin it into something playful and bold.”

The track, produced by long-time collaborator Liam Geddes, is saturated with fluorescent pop textures and cheeky, empowering lyrics. Beneath its fun exterior, though, lies a subtle message about reframing vulnerability as strength—one of the key themes explored on her forthcoming EP.

Femme Fatality promises to be a vivid, unfiltered look at the modern female experience. Touching on body image, infertility, sexuality, and self-worth, the EP offers sharp social commentary through the lens of glittering pop production. “It’s about the contrast between how I present myself as a femme fatale, and the reality of dealing with insecurity, comparison, endometriosis, ageism—all the things that shape how we see ourselves,” Pastiche shares.

Her blend of honesty and theatricality is clearly resonating. Pastiche has earned a steady wave of support across Irish media, landing placements on major Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday, NPOPUK, and EQUAL, while receiving airplay across key stations including RTE, Today FM, and BBC NI. Her breakout track ‘Forfeit Control’ climbed to No. 3 on the Irish Radio Breakers Chart, notching up more than 12.5 million radio impacts in Ireland last year alone.

Beyond the studio, she’s proven herself as a commanding live performer, with appearances at Primavera Pro, Iceland Airwaves, Sea Sessions, Other Voices Wales, and more. She’s shared stages with artists like Lyra, Alice Glass, and Aimee, while also headlining intimate Irish venues such as Whelan’s and The Grand Social.

With ‘Calories’, Pastiche opens the door to an era that’s brash, bold, and unapologetically personal. If this single is anything to go by, Femme Fatality is set to be a defining moment for Pastiche.
