News: Sam Barber announces 2027 Australian tour with Josiah and the Bonnevilles

American country star Sam Barber is heading back to Australia, and this time he’s playing his biggest venues yet. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter has announced an extensive March and April 2027 tour, taking in seven cities, including a Sydney headline show at the Hordern Pavilion on 9 April.

It’s a remarkable rise for the Missouri-born musician, whose stripped-back songwriting and rough-edged vocals have helped him rack up more than 3.4 billion global streams. His 2025 Australian headline tour saw venues upgraded and extra dates added, and his fourth visit to the country looks set to take things considerably further.

Barber’s breakthrough came with Straight and Narrow, a double-platinum hit that introduced his bruised, confessional take on country music to a much wider audience. His collaboration with Avery Anna, Indigo, followed, clocking up more than 728 million global streams and breaking into the Billboard Hot 100.

His second album, Broken View, pushes deeper into love, loss and self-examination, building on the success of his gold-certified 2024 debut, Restless Mind. Along the way, Barber has performed alongside Bruce Springsteen and Ed Sheeran, appeared on major American television programmes and contributed Tear Us Apart to the Twisters soundtrack.

Joining him on the Australian run are Josiah and the Bonnevilles, led by Tennessee singer-songwriter Josiah Leming. Returning after their own Australian and New Zealand headline tour, they’ll bring material from As Is, an album that moves between intimate folk storytelling and full-throated singalongs.

For Sydney fans, Barber’s move to the Hordern Pavilion marks a significant step up. Just a few years after building an audience through his unvarnished songs and online following, he’s now filling the sort of rooms usually reserved for established country heavyweights.
