Derbyshire alt-rockers Shadows of a Silhouette have released their highly anticipated debut album, For Those That Know.
The thirteen-track record delivers a potent blend of grunge grit and modern alt-rock with hair-metal flare and evocative lyricism that delivers working-class social commentary through bold, unflinching soundscapes. Across For Those That Know showcases the band’s range, balancing riotous, high-octane energy with some softer, more tender, heartfelt moments.
Recorded at Liverpool’s legendary Motor Museum with acclaimed producer Al Groves(Cast and Bring Me the Horizon) the album sees Shadows of a Silhouette refining their sound, capturing an essence of 80s and 90s rock classics while bringing a refreshing contemporary shimmer.
Frontman Reece reflects: “Some of the tracks on this record have been kicking about since the early days of this band back in 2018. You can hear the development of the band musically, emotionally, and spiritually. There are 13 raw, honest, chaotic, and vulnerable tracks on this LP, and that’s everything a debut album should be.”
Drummer Tyler adds: “For Those That Know is an album created for the ears of the like-minded. It’s hard-hitting, gritty, and rooted in rock ’n’ roll tradition.”
Bassist Nathan notes: “This album is a love letter to my youthful mind. Each song is a feeling, a time capsule of thoughts once had. We’ve poured all our shared experience—life, love, parenthood, loss, and everything in between—into this work. It’s a point of pride and a precursor to the determined future yet to come.”
Shadows of a Silhouette have built a reputation for electrifying live performances, packing venues such as Nottingham’s The Bodega and Rough Trade, Camden’s Fiddler’s Elbow, and selling out their last three Derby headline shows. Highlights include headlining the main stage at Y Not Festival and amassing hundreds of thousands of streams. Their immersive, high-energy shows have cemented their place in the UK alt-rock scene, drawing fans with the band’s sincerity, intensity, and unrelenting passion.
