At just 19, New York’s breakout alt-pop melancholist sombr is riding a wave that shows no signs of cresting. This December, the teenage hitmaker will make his debut headline appearance in Australia and New Zealand, fresh off a stratospheric rise from bedroom producer to chart-dominating force.

The Lower East Side native—real name Shane Boose—will bring his emotionally soaked catalogue to some of the region’s most iconic venues: Auckland Town Hall, Melbourne’s Festival Hall, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall. These headline shows follow his appearances at this year’s Spilt Milk festival.

sombr’s ascent began in lockdown solitude, armed with GarageBand and a heartbreak or two. His 2022 track Caroline, written and released at 16, became an anthem for the internet’s emotionally overdrawn youth, racking up over 45 million Spotify streams. Fast forward to now, and the numbers are dizzying: 28 million monthly listeners, a string of Gold-certified singles in Australia (Back to Friends, Undressed), and a recent collaboration with UK indie-pop riser Rachel Chinouriri.

He’s been praised for performances that balance fragility and raw energy. As Concert Chronicles noted during his 2024 North American tour: “sombr did not disappoint, delivering a performance that was both mesmerizing and electrifying.” Expect more of the same down under.

Sombr 2025 Tour Dates

Tue 2 Dec – Auckland Town Hall (Auckland)
Thu 4 Dec – Festival Hall (Melbourne)
Tue 9 Dec – Hordern Pavilion (Sydney)
Thu 11 Dec – The Fortitude Music Hall (Brisbane)

Head HERE for tickets.

Sombr will also appear at Spilt Milk.
