News: Spear of Destiny Announce New Double Album JANUS and 2025 UK Tour

Post-punk pioneers Spear of Destiny are back this Spring with a major new project and a full UK tour. Led by Kirk Brandon, the band will release their brand new double album JANUS and hit the road for a huge run of dates across April, May, and June.

Available to pre-order now, JANUS reimagines two of the band’s most iconic records — Outland (1987) and The Price You Pay (1988) — with fresh re-recordings that reflect Brandon’s original vision. Frustrated by compromises made during their initial releases, Kirk and his long-time bandmates have returned to the material with new energy, authenticity, and artistic freedom.

“Janus, as I’m sure you all know, is the Roman god who looked in two directions…” says Brandon. “At the time of making, ‘The Price You Pay’ often in its lyrics, had a backwards looking take on my previous life experiences, several being very personal. Whereas ‘Outland’, with its dystopian lyrics, looked forward… Lyrically it faced the ever increasing out of phase reality we are now firmly in.”

Despite both albums reaching the UK Top 40, Brandon was never satisfied with how they sounded — particularly Outland, which was largely recorded using then-cutting-edge Fairlight 3 technology. Now, with the help of his long-standing touring band, he’s ready to present the songs as they were always meant to be heard.

“Some may say why re-record… the reason is that I wanted them to sound as close to what I originally thought they should have sounded like.” Brandon explains. “I have to gratefully thank, as ever, my band for bringing these songs back to life from a major record company cemetery…”

The JANUS double album will be released on Vinyl, CD, and Digital formats this Spring. Fans can pre-order here and stream a teaser track, The Jungle, now.

To celebrate the release, Spear of Destiny will take JANUS on tour, hitting cities across the UK including Glasgow, London, Manchester, Cardiff, and more.
