Montreal rock quartet TAXI GIRLS have released their long-awaited debut album, Static, via Stomp Records and marking a significant milestone for one of Canada’s fastest-rising guitar bands.
After building momentum with a string of singles, Static sees the band deliver their first full-length statement, combining the garage rock grit, punk attitude and power-pop hooks that have quickly earned them attention both at home and abroad. While inspired by pioneering female-led rock acts including The Runaways, Girlschool and Nikki Corvette, TAXI GIRLS continue to forge an identity that feels entirely their own.
The album arrives following a breakout year for the Montreal outfit. Their explosive live performances have seen them share stages with NOBRO, NOFX, Lagwagon, The Hives, Billy Talent and Pansy Division, while legendary musician Iggy Pop recently championed the band on his BBC 6 Music radio programme, introducing their music to an international audience.
Among the tracks featured on Static are previously released singles Say It!, Secret Handshake and Midnight Mixtape, with the album exploring themes including love, loss, mental health, self-doubt and resilience.
With Static now out in the world, the quartet take another major step forward, adding a full-length debut to the growing reputation they have built through relentless touring and an increasingly devoted fanbase.
