News: Joe Jackson Returns To Australia For First Tour In Nearly Two Decades

Nearly two decades after his last Australian visit, Joe Jackson is finally heading back. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, pianist and one of Britain’s most enduring musical chameleons will return in January and February 2027, bringing his acclaimed live show to theatres across Australia and New Zealand in support of his latest album, Hope and Fury.

The tour marks a welcome return for an artist who has spent more than four decades refusing to stand still. Since bursting onto the scene with 1979’s Look Sharp!, Jackson has continually reinvented his sound, moving effortlessly between new wave, rock, jazz, classical and sophisticated pop while maintaining the razor-sharp songwriting that has defined his remarkable catalogue.

Hope and Fury proves that creative restlessness remains central to Jackson’s identity. Recorded with longtime collaborators Graham Maby, Teddy Kumpel and Doug Yowell, alongside percussionist Paulo Stagnaro, the album blends Latin rhythms, jazz flourishes, rock energy and pop craftsmanship into a record that feels both adventurous and unmistakably Joe Jackson. It is a reminder that, more than 45 years into his career, he remains an artist driven by curiosity rather than nostalgia.

That spirit has carried through to his current world tour, which launched across North America in May to widespread critical acclaim. Audiences have been treated to a career-spanning set that pairs timeless hits including Is She Really Going Out with Him?, Steppin’ Out and Real Men with selections from Hope and Fury, showcasing a catalogue that continues to evolve without losing sight of its roots.

Jackson’s reputation as a live performer has always rested on musicianship rather than spectacle. Whether seated behind the piano or leading a full band, he combines effortless technical ability with dry wit and a willingness to move seamlessly between genres, making every performance feel as unpredictable as the songs themselves.

Australian audiences can expect that same approach when Jackson arrives with his touring band featuring bassist Graham Maby, guitarist Teddy Kumpel, drummer Doug Yowell and percussionist Felipe Fournier. After an absence of almost 20 years, the return of one of popular music’s great musical innovators is long overdue.
