Weezer are heading back Down Under in 2027, and they’re bringing some serious 90s alternative rock company along for the ride. Third Eye Blind and Fountains of Wayne will join the Californian rockers for a six-date arena tour across Australia and New Zealand next February and March.
The tour kicks off in Perth on 24 February before heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, wrapping up in Auckland on 7 March.
Fronted by Rivers Cuomo, Weezer have spent more than three decades turning awkwardness, heartbreak and catchy guitar riffs into some of alternative rock’s most recognisable songs. Their 1994 debut, the Blue Album, gave us Buddy Holly, Say It Ain’t So and Undone – The Sweater Song, while later hits including Island In The Sun, Hash Pipe and Beverly Hills cemented their place in rock history.
Backseat Mafia caught Weezer at Good Things Festival in 2025, where the band reminded Australian audiences just how many great songs they’ve got up their sleeves. Now they’re returning for a full arena tour, armed with more than three decades of hits and material from their latest album, Weezer (Gold).
Joining them are Third Eye Blind, whose 1997 debut delivered alternative radio staples Semi-Charmed Life, Jumperand How’s It Going To Be. The San Francisco band haven’t performed in Australia since 2011, making this a long-overdue return.
Fountains of Wayne complete the line-up, returning to Australia for the first time since 1999. Best known for their 2003 hit Stacy’s Mom, the power-pop favourites resumed live performances in 2025 following the death of co-founder Adam Schlesinger in 2020.
Three bands, decades of alternative rock hits and plenty of songs that have outlived the era that produced them. For fans of 90s and early-2000s guitar music, this is quite a line-up.
