It’s been said before but I’ll say it again: Kat Greta is a prodigious, seriously underrated talent whose releases are like golden rays of sunshine when all else around is dark. We are honoured to present her latest single ‘Audacity’ which follows up last year’s EP ‘Rhythm & Reverie’ (reviewed by me here).
Kat’s background as a percussionist always shines through her releases, and ‘Audacity’ is no different with its pattering restless backbeat that underpins her velvet soft vocals with its twists and turns. The delivery is serpentine and glowing with Greta’s trademark pop melodies that stick like superglue and sparkle like the sunshine over the oceans.
A challenging year lead to feelings of resilience and strength – epitomised by Greta in the sense of audacity (recalling perhaps Barak Obama’s book ‘The Audacity of Hope). She says:
‘Audacity’ explores the emotional whiplash of grief, where the world carries on as usual while yours quietly falls apart.
Greta channels this into something that defies acceptance and surrender.
‘Audacity’s accompanying music video – filmed and directed by Francis Biay – is a kaleidoscope of neon lit colours and a tale of mystery and fantasy shot in Melbourne like a Nicholas Winding Refn movie: surreal and multi-coloured with Greta as the steady force of radiant joy:
‘Audacity’ is out on Friday, 3 July via all the usual download and streaming sites.
