Premiere: Damien Binder’s new single ‘Here It Is’ is a shining beacon of soul-stirring, anthemic indie pop.

We are honoured to premiere the new single ‘Here It Is’ from New Zealand-born Western Australian resident Damien Binder which is out on Friday, 5 February 2021.

Binder began his musical life in nineties NZ band Second Child before moving west to Australia – Perth to be precise – and releasing, to date, four solo albums, including the last in 2016, ‘A New World’.

‘Here It Is’ is exemplary indie pop of the highest order – Binder’s vocals ring like a bell with expression and passion and the instrumentation jangles and soars behind him. There is a great mix between the acoustic guitars and the deep resonance of piano and synths over the clattering and restless percussion.

It is thoroughly satisfying indie rock with a hint of swagger and a dash of melancholic yearning. Binder says the song is a kind of meditation on appreciating the moment, gratitude and impermanence.

There is certainly a lot to appreciate in Binder’s song writing skills (in collaboration with Bob (Shepheard) and the production and instrument input from Matt Gio:

This is soul-stirring and anthemic indie pop. Binder is currently working on his fifth album.

You can get the single here and through the normal download/streaming platforms from 5 February 2021. Binder has announced that proceeds from the sale of this release will be donated to The Lord Mayors Distress Relief Fund- appealswa.org.au to help those directly impacted by the recent bushfires in Perth, WA. Brilliant.

The cute cover photograph is of Binder aged about 5 or 6 at Stanmore Bay, Whangaparoa (North of Auckland).
