We are very honoured to premiere the new single ‘Disappear From The Earth’ from one of our favourite US bands, Lunar Twin, as a taster to their newly announced album ‘Night Jaguar’. It’s been two years since this dreamy dream pop electro-goth band released an album (see my review of 2023’s ‘Aurora’). In the intervening time they produced one the highlights of 2025, the debut album from Matthew Nowhere, but now the duo are back with another utterly satisfying portion of liquid electro-pop.
‘Disappear In The Earth’ has a rich tapestry of sound: vibrant, alive and sinuous – electrifying goth pop enhanced by the deep thundering sonorous vocals while exhibiting sheer pop sensibilities. The genetic code of the eighties – Depeche Mode, Cabaret Voltaire and New Order- is detectable, but the duo create something for the times – both in lyrics and production. You could isolate the percussion alone and drift off into a reverie.
An ambulant bass shivers its way in the undercurrent while the vocals are Arctic, distant, observant while the synths create a curtain of sonic aurora waves.
Bryce Boudreau says of the song:
It’s a story as old as the earth and it’s also a story of this very moment. It’s about searching alone through the darkness, crossing a desert of the soul.
The lyrics are poetic and enigmatic, expressing strength and stoicism:
gonna cross these border walls, gonna smash these border walls, gonna lay right down in the dirt, disappear in the earth,we are forever, when it rain s when its dark, the spirit in your heart ,gonna break these border walls
The accompanying video directed By Roberto Naal in Peto Yucatan is as epic and cinematic as the track itself: a stark depiction of humanity and the desperation of people seeking a better life. Apparently several of Naal’s own uncles have undertaken the same perilous border crossing journey depicted in the video. There’s no need for overt politicization reflecting the current inhumane climes seeping through our world like a canker: it is a deeply empathetic and beautifully shot film that speak volumes without shouting.
The othe half of the duo, Chris Murphy, says of Naal’s video:
It’s an intense and beautiful journey. I really love how Roberto interpreted our song.
This is a stunning taste of what’s to come from this brilliant band. ‘Disappear In The Earth’ is out this week and will be available via all the usual download and streaming sites and now through the link below:
‘Night Jaguar’ will be released in September 2026 on vinyl and CD (digital release to follow) through Tropical Depression Records. Further details, additional singles, and pre-order information will be announced soon. Enigmatically, the band says of the album:
‘The sun transformed into a jaguar to travel through the underworld at night, making it the “night sun” that fights against darkness
This is indeed a band that continues to shine when all else is dark. Lunar Twin are based in Hawaii and Salt Lake City.
