We are very honoured to bring you an exclusive early listen to the radiant new single ‘Melt’ from Townsville-based band Poison Oak.
‘Melt’ is a shimmering indie pop delight delivered over jangling guitars and soaring choruses, with just a touch of punk. There is a sixties-inflection to the infectious pop and lyrics that have an antipodean larrikin expressiveness. The band says of the track:
‘Melt’ is a satirical take on how conspiracy culture and online extremism have seeped into
everyday life. It plays with the absurdity of tin foil hats, 5G paranoia and fluoride panic, using
humour to highlight how easily misinformation spreads and reshapes reality.
Very apt sentiments for the current world in which we live.
Poison Oak have a power pop brilliance that requires sunglasses – think of bands like XTC and Teenage Fanclub, mixing thoughtful lyrics with melodies that shine and sparkle like stars in the firmament.
‘Melt’ is out tomorrow (6 March) and you can pre-download and stream here.
Poison Oak will be launching the single this weekend – tickets here and details below.
