Premiere: Naarm/Melbourne trio My Giddy Aunt spin back around with luscious new single in ‘Your Garden’ and announce launch date.

We are very pleased to premiere the new single ‘Your Garden’ from those curly topped indie pop stars My Giddy Aunt, the first single following their EP ‘All Things Come In Time’ released last year.

‘Your Garden’ is a reflective track delivered over crystal clear guitars and an evocative layered vocals with a poetic lyricism that is moving. According to the band, the songs is about the impact a person can have on you:

When you think about someone for too long, they build a garden in the back of your mind and stay there for good.

The imagery is whimsical and delightful:

You’ve got a house that’s made of vines
And each day it gets harder to climb
If gardens are just like banks for time
When I think of you, I’m just depositing mine

In your garden
You’re building a garden back there

As the song builds up, the melodies and harmonies are exquisite, echoing the fragile delicacy of artists like The National, Sufjan Stevens or Beck.

‘You Garden’ is out on Thursday, 23 March and you can pre-save it here. The band will be launching the single on 29 March at the Old Bar in Melbourne – tickets and details here.

My Giddy Aunt are building up an absolutely delightful repertoire – creating a fey and whimsical catalogue of catchy pop songs that have a distinctly antipodean flavour with an universal appeal. You can get their EP below and watch out for more from this band this year.
