We’ve already fallen pretty much head over heels for Garage / Psych rockers The Total Rejection, and their forthcoming album The Time Traveller’s 3rd Will & Testament’ (Raving Pop Blast! Records), which you can peruse at your leisure here, so we’re delighted to premiere the new video for the track ‘Gravy’, right here on Backseat Mafia.
Of the track, the band say “‘Gravy’ is a sonic-psych blast of wah wah guitars and frantic drums, wretched vocals and an abundance of taught energy, bursting loose. A paranoid panic attack drowning in murky slime, when logic thinking disappears from your mind. But suddenly at the last minute, you’re saved and it feels like walking out of a pitch black room into a world of wild vivid colours.”
Messy and volatile, Gravy blasts out of the box, it’s Garage rock meets Psych nugget stylings draped all over the track. Winding, chattering guitars and effects laden vocals are just the dressing that, should you be able to strip it away (not that you’d EVER want to), would leave you with just a fantastic pop record. In its glorious overcoat, its just a REALLY fantastic pop record.
The accompanying video shows the band put through the blender with a effects and psychedelic imagery, but still there and rinsing everything they can out of the track. Check it out, here
