See: Beacons Festival 7-10 August 2014

I guess it’s time to start thinking which summer festival to attend and I’m really excited about the first acts announced by Beacons Festival.

This independent festival is only in its third year (after the 2011 event was forced to close due to flooding) and it seems to be giving the bigger festivals a definate run for their money. Set in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales at Heslaker Farm in Skipton, it starts with a welcome party on Thursday 7 August with a late night silent disco and special guest DJs. The headliners for the for the next three days are New York disco and funk duo Darkside, ethereal London trio Daughters and the electronica tunes of Jon Hopkins. The Fall are making a rare festival appearance and Leed’s newest legends Hookworms are also playing.

The rest of the line up, so far is:

Art and culture are an integral part of the festival and this year sees the addition of the new Hunters Field which will accompany the arts area that includes spoken word, yoga, film and documentary question and answers.

The food is not your standard hog roast and burgers either but award winning street food from the likes of Patty Smith burgers and Dough Boys pizza.

The Diddy Rascals is the family area and with Whitelocks, the oldest pub in Leeds, and the new Belgrave Music Hall both providing Ale and Beer tents, there certainly is a lot going on!

Get your weekend tickets from See, Crash Records, Jumbo Records or Ticket Arena for £99.50. See you there!
