Out today is the Deluxe Edition of Goldfrapps recent Tales of Us album. As well as the original tracklisting it features the audio from the live special the band took part in, Live From Air Studios. Originally broadcast alongside the short film, Tales of Us, it formed part of a global cinema event back in March. As well as live versions of tracks from the new album including Clay Alver and Thea, it features some of the best loved songs, including Train, Utopia, Strict Machine and Clowns.
Also out today is a box set, featuring a beautiful 40-page hardback book, a 12” lithographic print, DVD featuring the album in 5.1 surround sound and documentary on the making of plus Tales of Us on CD and vinyl, is also available now on Mute.
Also featured on the Deluxe Edition are the films for five of the individual stories featured on the album, directed by Lisa Gunning, including Stranger, which the band have released. The track is beautiful, atmospheric and almost soundtrack like, whistling and lavish orchestration included. Slow moving and accompanied firstly just by an acoustic guitar, before sweeping strings give it all some breadth and poise, it sees the band on top form.
