Brighton based singer songwriter Holly Macve returned to her native Yorkshire for the new video for her song ‘Corner of my mind’. Co-directed by Macve alongside Lauren Joy Kennett, Holly says of it “We decided to not plan much before we starting filming, hoping to just stumble across the right imagery and atmosphere needed to accompany the dark nature of the song. All the shots were filmed in Holme Moss near my hometown in West Yorkshire which is where it was written.”
It’s dark and foreboding, a little like the music, which has this bewitching alt-folk/country feel about it. Macve’s vocal is seering and honest, and is accompanied by these drops of piano that gently drip over the shuffling acoustic guitar. It’s full of melancholy and mystery, these ghostly backing vocals adding to the atmosphere.
