See: Jodie Abacus releases video for “Good Feeling”

Its getting dark outside, its raining, the cat’s mewing to be fed, the kids are becoming more like zombies ever minute they spend on whatever probably wholly inappropriate game they’ve talked me into downloading last, and yet here I am, sat amongst it all, with a smile on my face. It’s all down to Jodie Abacus.

His song Good Feeling has already been crowned R1Xtra’s Best of British Record of the Week, and no wonder. Its classic R&B with a modern twist, warmed with choral backing over these couple of chords, with little sachets of funk guitar and this popping bass. But there’s more to it than that – there’s this retro funk bassline that plays all over things, as it could be the sort of thing Stevie Wonder should have been making in the 80s.

I could listen to this all night. Gives me a…well, you know. Check the typically retro video out, here
