Larkin Poe raise lockdown spirits with the video for their uplifting new single ‘Holy Ghost Fire’.

Larkin Poe, aka Atlanta-born multi-instrumentalist sister duo Rebecca and Megan Lovell, are following up their GRAMMY® Award-nominated fourth studio album, ‘Venom & Faith’ with new album ‘Self Made Man’ (out on 12 June via their own Tricki-Woo Records). To celebrate the release of the second single from the new record, ‘Holy Ghost Fire’, they have shared the video they recorded for it during lockdown quarantine and it’s everything you need to lift your spirits (watch below).

In contrast to the polished and moody looking video for big-riffed lead single ‘She’s A Self Made Man’, the video for ‘Holy Ghost Fire’ exudes the natural warmth and raw energy of the track itself. The sisters sing “Sing, baby sing, let your sorrow pass by. Lift our voices with the smoke, rising higher” and the feeling of relief is as infectious as their smiling faces. It’s also incredibly catchy; I defy you to walk around your home without singing it constantly after one listen.

Speaking about the video, Larkin Poe said:

“‘Holy Ghost Fire’ is our anthem for the healing power of music. When we wrote the song a couple of months ago, we had no idea how cathartic it would be for us to release a song of optimism and unity during these uncertain times.

“Our whole crew has been on lockdown here in Nashville, Tennessee, so we had to think outside the box and flex our DIY muscles to get this music video made from quarantine. Rebecca’s husband Tyler Bryant shot the performance footage of us in a vacant lot next to an AutoZone and even the homeless guy stayed 6-feet away out of respect to social-distancing measures.”

The band had to reschedule the European tour they were due to begin next month and, thankfully, managed to rebook their UK shows as well as including some additional dates (details below).

For those that can’t wait until February 2021, the community-focused sisters are selling tickets for their ‘Home Sweet Home Live Stream Series’ (dates below), with proceeds from tickets going to United Way Nashville. “We’ve had to postpone concerts, but we don’t want the music to stop”, they explained. “This live stream series is our way of keeping the music going, from our home sweet home to yours.”

If you’re experiencing the lockdown blues, Larkin Poe may be the bluesy cure you’re looking for.
