Mavis Staples - If all I was, was black
A musical Staple

Soul and civil rights legend Mavis Staples has returned with a new video for her latest albums titular track.  The video for “I all I was, was black” looks at the ongoing controversy regarding civil war memorials, and in particular, imagines what could be done with the pedestals as we look forwards instead of back.

It’s a heartfelt, important, song from a voice that’s not ready to go away, paired with a hopeful video.  The songs message “It’s time for more love” ringing out poignantly following events of the last few years.
