Natasha Khan, better known as Bat For Lashes, has taken the dance track “Home” by Baauer and transformed it into a mesmerizing indie folk gem that feels uniquely her own. Released as a surprise cover, “Home” showcases Khan’s distinctive style enveloping the track and wrapping it up in an indie folk cloak, while retaining the vibe and energy of the original.

What’s particularly striking about Bat For Lashes’ rendition is the subtle infusion of synth and electronica, adding layers of depth and intrigue to the track without overpowering its inherent beauty. The splashes of synth serve as a disguise, enhancing the song’s atmosphere while hinting at its former purpose.

“Home” is beautifully done, demonstrating Khan’s ability to reinvent and reimagine music in her own image. This surprise cover, which serves as the third single from her upcoming sixth studio album The Dream Of Delphi, is a testament to her creativity and versatility as an artist.

The inclusion of “Home” on the album is a heartfelt tribute to Khan’s daughter Delphi, who adored the original song. This personal touch adds an emotional depth to the track, making it more than just a cover—it’s a meaningful connection between mother and child, immortalized in music.

It was Delphi’s favourite song,” she explains; “We just played it over and over and over again every time we got in the car and she’d giggle and squeal. So I did it for her, really – because when she looks back on this album, we can say that was your favourite song that you loved as a little baby”.

As we await The Dream Of Delphi, Bat For Lashes continues to captivate audiences with her evocative soundscapes, even in a cover such as this. Listen here
