Track: Charlotte Day Wilson returns with two tracks – Take Care Of You feat. Syd / Summertime

We’ve been hooked on Toronto based singer, songwriter and producer Charlotte Day Wilson for a while now, after hearing her breathtaking work with BadBadNotGood so we were delighted to see she’d returned with not one but two tracks – ‘Take Care Of You‘ feat. Syd and ‘Summertime’.

Charlotte says of the two tracks: “’Take Care of You’ was one of those songs that came really naturally and quickly, the lyrics were impromptu & the music was simple. I just wanted to write the sort of lesbian love song that I would want to listen to. Syd was the best possible addition, we both felt it was a song that needed to be heard. I wrote ‘Summertime’ at my cottage alone in the woods, I was just reflecting on some unrequited emotions that always seem to come back in the summer.

Take Care Of You is this beautiful slice of electronic soul, with minimal pads and beats accompanying Wilson and Syds beautiful vocals and a picked acoustic guitar and winding, stuttering bassline. Summertime is funkier, with brushes of guitar and popping bass as Wilson drapes her smooth vocal over the velvety accompaniment and sometime gospel stylings.
