Anthemic drumming, angsty shouting and ferocious guitars are all present and correct – and that’s just in the first 30 seconds before a softer melody reels you in.
Payback is a rallying battle cry “Hey Mister, Get your hands off my sister” that manages to be equal parts intelligent, articulate rage reminiscent of grunge icons L7 or Babes In Toyland balanced against the harmonious steely strength of Dream Wife.
On this evidence I for one am looking forward to their upcoming debut album on Alcopop records.
