Folk Bitch Trio have shared ‘Moth Song’, a slow-burning heart-stirrer lifted from their forthcoming debut album Now Would Be A Good Time, out July 25 via Jagjaguwar. The Naarm/Melbourne-based outfit — Gracie Sinclair, Jeanie Pilkington and Heide Peverelle — continue to turn heads with their bruised, bare honesty and intricate three-part harmonies.
If earlier single ‘Cathode Ray’ shimmered with nostalgic ache, ‘Moth Song’ dives deeper into the gut-punch of unrequited longing. It’s another stunner from a band that makes melancholy sound like a secret worth keeping. Built on the bones of old-school Americana and haunted classic rock, their songs trace the emotional wastelands of twenty-something life — daydreams turned sour, lust flickering like static, breakups that drag out like bad TV.
Written and road-tested during their first tours and captured on tape in wintry Auckland with producer Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, Marlon Williams), the record leans into minimalist but distinctive arrangements. Voices and guitar take the spotlight, drawing you close before breaking your heart.
Folk Bitch Trio are heading Stateside for a string of headline dates this July and August, including a coveted support slot with Whitney. They’ll return home this September for a headline run across Australia and New Zealand, with Now Would Be A Good Time promising to soundtrack a generation caught somewhere between doomscrolls and daydreams.
