Genesis Owusu has wasted little time building on the momentum of his critically acclaimed third album, with the Ghanaian-Australian artist today surprise-releasing the blistering new single ‘HUMAN AGAIN’ via OURNESS.

Arriving just weeks after the release of REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, the track continues Owusu’s fearless examination of life in an increasingly fractured world. Built around glitching electronics and restless rhythms, HUMAN AGAIN wrestles with the emotional fatigue of the digital age, balancing frustration and disillusionment with a determination to remain engaged rather than retreat into apathy. Its accompanying video mirrors that tension, juxtaposing baroque imagery with contemporary European streets in a visual that is as striking as the song itself.

The single extends the themes explored throughout REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, an album that has rapidly established itself as one of 2026’s defining releases. Hailed by critics around the world, the record debuted at No. 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart while claiming the No. 1 Australian Album and Vinyl Album positions. It also topped KEXP’s most-played albums list and reached No. 1 on the US Submodern chart, earning widespread praise from publications including The Guardian, Pitchfork, NME, Rolling Stone Australia and The New York Times.

Backseat Mafia was equally enthusiastic, praising REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE as one of Owusu’s most compelling works to date. That acclaim was reinforced on stage when the publication caught his scintillating performance at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre during the Red Star Wu’s Pirate Radio Tour, where his electrifying blend of hip hop, punk, funk and soul translated into one of the year’s most captivating live shows.

Already one of Australia’s most decorated contemporary artists, Owusu has collected seven ARIA Awards, amassed more than 130 million Spotify streams and built a reputation as one of the country’s most inventive live performers. Following recent appearances at festivals including Rock For People, Bergenfest and Best Kept Secret, along with sold-out headline dates in London and Paris and support slots with IDLES in Germany, his global ascent shows no sign of slowing.

With HUMAN AGAIN, Genesis Owusu offers another compelling glimpse into the creative world of an artist who continues to challenge expectations while remaining one of Australia’s most distinctive musical voices.
