Track: Imperial Daze – Always Settling

Here’s a taste of something quite magnificent. Peckham’s Imperial Daze have all the swagger and attitude of seasoned indie veterans and in their new single ‘Always Settling’ they have created a brilliant instant classic. It’s an insistent, roller-coaster of a ride, throbbing synths, louche studied vocals and a pulse racing drive that thunders on. Ranging in sound anywhere from Arctic Monkeys to Johnny Marr with a nod to a more psych-era The Verve, this is jolly exciting stuff:

Imperial Daze are singer/guitarist Alex Cameron-Ward, guitarist/bassist Felix Rebaud-Sauer, keyboardist/singer Facundo Rodriguez and drummer Tom Sunney.

The band is managed and produced by Rupert Jarvis of The Maccabees and have previously supported Mystery Jets, Matt Maltese, Nilufer Yanya, The Maccabees, All We Are, Man,The Echo and more.

You can catch them at their headline show on 7th November at The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington, London. I’m looking forward to more from this band who, on the strength of this track, may well be an important new force in UK indie rock.
