Track: Joshua Scarratt – Summer of ‘21

Indie riser Joshua Scarratt has shared a brand new track ‘Summer Of ‘21’, which arrives ahead of his debut EP ‘Riding Through The Desert Of My Dreams’, set for release May 30th.

Heralding the lead single from his upcoming extended release, Scarratt has already shared previews  ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Mind’ and ‘Hold Me. Whilst on the live front, the musician has a London headliner at The Shacklewell Arms lined up to coincide with his EP’s release this summer.

Discussing his latest release, Scarratt stated:

“‘Summer of ’21’ is the line drawn in the sand. I found myself at the end of 2023 feeling a strong desire to escape from the confines of my mind. My desire for change was the most genuine it had ever felt. The isolation that I had created had reached its peak and I felt a severe lack of connection; I was grappling with my thoughts and I realised I had become trapped in a cycle of solitude.

Whilst the title may suggest and prompt nostalgia, the song itself is certainly not nostalgic. It is not about a specific time, year, or season and yearning for it, but it is a rejection of that type of thinking. It is me signing off to narratives I have held onto for far too long.”

A melodic guitar-driven slice of post-punk/indie with a huge infectious chorus. Dominated by Scarratt’s vocals and the gothic riffs, it’s a track much like the previous two, showing different sides to Scarratt’s songwriting talent. Each side is as brilliant as the rest. 2025 will be a big year for this guy.
