Track: KSMBA explores desire and vulnerability on new single ‘Touch’

KSMBA continues a rapid ascent through Australia’s electronic underground with ‘Touch’, a new single that turns the uneasy space between attraction and self-protection into something built for the dancefloor.

The Sydney-born, Melbourne-based producer, vocalist and DJ created the track with co-producer Ross James, aka upsidedownhead, while Mansionair’s Jack Froggatt joins as co-writer. The result pairs atmospheric vocals with an insistent electronic pulse, maintaining the intimacy of KSMBA’s songwriting without sacrificing the physicality that has become central to their club sets.

‘Touch’ digs into the moment when attraction starts demanding something more difficult than desire. KSMBA explores the instinct to retreat when a relationship begins to feel real, particularly when past experiences have made vulnerability something to be wary of. At the centre of the song is the uncomfortable prospect of allowing another person to see beyond the version of yourself you are accustomed to presenting.

It follows ‘Crashed Into You’, which picked up a triple j first play on Home & Hosed and landed KSMBA on the cover of 10 Magazine Australia’s Music Issue in collaboration with Chanel. Earlier single ‘Release Me’ also found substantial radio support, while ‘Eyes’ was named among triple j Unearthed’s Top 50 Tracks of 2025, reached number 39 on Spotify’s Australian Viral Chart and has passed 370,000 streams across platforms.

KSMBA spent more than 13 years in formal musical training and graduated from London’s Royal College of Music as a classically trained saxophonist. That background remains audible in music where meticulous production sits alongside something considerably less controlled emotionally.

Since launching KSMBA in 2023, the project has moved quickly from emerging act to increasingly familiar name on Australian festival bills. Performances at Pitch Music & Arts, Beyond The Valley, Let Them Eat Cake, Mardi Gras, Party in the Paddock and A3 Festival have been joined by support slots with Mall Grab, Effy, Kettama, Sim0ne and Nooriyah. A recent DJ set alongside Tame Impala at the F1 adds another sizeable entry to that list.

The industry is paying attention too. KSMBA has been named a Mixmag Artist to Watch for 2026, appeared as a Mixmag ANZ cover artist and been selected as a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist. They have now joined Spin Artist Agency’s roster, which also includes Ninajirachi, adding another piece of infrastructure around a project that is expanding quickly.

There is plenty more already in motion, with collaborations involving Lucy Blomkamp, Motez, Mansionair’s Lachlan Bostock, Ross James and Tentendo, alongside upcoming appearances at ADE 2026 and Mode 2026.
