Australian psych-rock outfit Large Mirage are back with Watching, a riff-heavy new single that takes aim at our increasingly unhealthy relationship with technology, surveillance and the digital world.
The second taste of their forthcoming EP Wildfire, Watching is all crunching guitars, intricate harmonies and a sprawling psychedelic solo that harks back to the glory days of classic rock. But beneath the vintage sound lies a thoroughly modern warning about a world obsessed with screens, online approval and the uncomfortable reality of constantly being watched.
Recorded live without click tracks or samples, the track captures Large Mirage doing things the old-fashioned way. Melbourne producer Michael Badger, whose credits include King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Amyl & The Sniffers, helps deliver a sound that’s raw, muscular and refreshingly free of digital polish.
The band have been making serious noise on the Australian circuit, landing support slots with AC/DC at Sydney’s Accor Stadium and TISM at Melbourne’s PICA, alongside festival appearances and their own headline shows.
Now they’re taking Watching on the road, kicking off aboard the sold-out Rock The Boat Cruise 2026 alongside Kings of Chaos before hitting Newcastle’s Crafted Festival and embarking on a run of Australian headline dates.
And there’s more on the horizon. Further shows are being lined up for late 2026 and 2027, with a trip to Scotland’s Bonfest, the annual celebration of AC/DC legend Bon Scott, also in their sights.
For a band making music with one foot firmly in the 1970s, Large Mirage have plenty to say about the world we’re living in right now.
