Melbourne singer-songwriter Lilith Lane has released ‘Sing To Me An Astral Dream’, a new single that finds her wandering through the hazy border between daydreams and the physical world.

Written and produced by Lane, the track pairs her electric guitar with double bassist Bill McDonald and drummer Peter Luscombe. Lane’s voice soars above the arrangement, while the melody carries a distinct ’90s feel, giving its dream-folk foundations a nostalgic pull without sounding stuck in the past.
At its heart, ‘Sing To Me An Astral Dream’ is an ode to the romance of drifting away. Lane explores those moments where imagination begins to loosen its grip on reality, with earthly muses providing the thread back towards something tangible.
The accompanying video takes that idea quite literally, with Lane dreamily floating among clouds while framed inside an ornate gilded frame. It’s a simple but effective visual extension of the song, placing her somewhere between portrait and apparition as the clouds roll around her.
The single follows June’s ‘Good Thing’, which explored mortality, appreciation and inner peace through a similarly noir-tinged strain of indie folk. Together, the songs continue a busy period for Lane following a recent run of shows through Europe and the UK.
Lane has spent her career moving between different musical worlds. Alongside her solo material and stark acoustic album Trickery, she currently performs with Ghost Medium, the project led by Pony Face’s Simon Bailey, and has previously explored electro-pop under the Baxter Avalon name. She has also shared stages with Tim Finn, Robert Forster and Stephen Cummings.
Now back in Melbourne, Lane will play an intimate show at The Thornbury Local on October 4, with further dates to be announced.
