Portsmouth’s five-piece Crystal Tides make their triumphant return with their latest single, ‘Detonate.’ This fluorescent offering exemplifies the band’s remarkable knack for weaving infectious vocal melodies into a tightly woven indie tapestry, reminiscent of musical influences such as Two Door Cinema Club and The Wombats. Crystal Tides have masterfully concocted an irresistible indie-pop sound that’s both danceable and flourecently catchy.

Produced by the renowned David Evans, known for his work with Cowboyy, Skinny Living, Flowvers, and Tom Millichamp, ‘Detonate’ wastes no time introducing us to its shimmering synths and those unforgettable vocal hooks. The track exudes a contagious upbeat energy through its lively drum rhythms and razor-sharp guitar lines, ultimately evolving into a euphoric sonic landscape, beautifully complementing the poignant and heartfelt vocal delivery. The chorus is a triumphant anthem, one that could easily fill a stadium with a sea of voices raised in harmony, cementing Crystal Tides’ status as rising stars in the indie-pop realm.

Delving into the essence of ‘Detonate’, the band shares the narrative behind the track, explaining, “Written from the perspective of our lead singer, Billy Gregory, the song delves into the struggle of growing older in a youth-centric society. ‘Detonate’ encapsulates a moment where Billy felt like he was spiraling out of control during a challenging period in his life. The chorus serves as a poignant realization of his reliance on alcohol as a coping mechanism, neglecting self-care along the way. Crafting this song was akin to gazing into a metaphorical mirror, a quest for self-love to regain his well-being.”

Crystal Tides have been making remarkable strides with their recent releases, rapidly gaining momentum within a short span of time. Following sold-out local shows, extensive UK tours, appearances at renowned UK festivals, and extensive airplay across BBC Radio 1, Radio X, Virgin Radio, Amazing Radio, Sirius XM, and BBC Radio 6 Music have seen the band establish themselves on a national level.
