Sarah McLachlan has released Gravity, the second single from her upcoming album Better Broken, due 19 September via Concord Records. The piano-led ballad, arranged by Patrick Warren, reflects on her relationship with her eldest daughter and the changes that came through counselling and open conversation. Recorded mainly at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, Better Broken marks McLachlan’s first release with Concord and her tenth studio album. It was produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan, and features musicians including Wendy Melvoin, Matt Chamberlain, Benny Bock, and Greg Leisz.

The album’s tracklist includes One In a Long Line, addressing the erosion of women’s rights, Long Road Home, a love song, Reminds Me, a duet with MUNA’s Katie Gavin, and the previously released title track.

McLachlan’s career spans more than three decades, with 3 GRAMMY Awards, 12 JUNO Awards, and over 40 million albums sold. She is also known for founding the Lilith Fair festival, which will be the subject of the upcoming documentary Lilith Fair: Building A Mystery, premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in September before streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

Alongside her music, McLachlan runs the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, offering free music education and mentorship to over 1,200 students annually across Vancouver, New Westminster, and Edmonton.
