Track: Something to get your hips moving – Warpaint release new track

The magnificent Warpaint have just released a new track, ‘Hips’ from their upcoming album, ‘Radiate Like This’.

‘Hips’ is the third single taken from the album which is due out on 6th May. It joins the tracks ‘Champion’ and ‘Stevie’, which were also previously released.

Warpaint last produced an album six years ago. In the interim they have been pursuing solo projects, raising families, touring and travelling. Inexorably however, the four women (Emily Kokal, Jenny Lee Lindberg, Stella Mozgawa and Theresa Wayman) who make up the band found themselves drawn together again. Physically separated by the pandemic, each musician recorded her parts separately—often in makeshift home studios—before sending on to the next, creating songs layer by layer. This was a painstaking process but it is about to reach fruition with the imminent release of ‘Radiate Like This’.

“I was saying the other day that we should’ve called this album “Exquisite Corpse”, but it was already taken”

Emily Kokal

‘Hips’ is classic Warpaint, it has an edgier beat compared to the two previously-released singles. Featuring the band’s trademark harmonies, the song has a menacing tone which is reflected in the lyrics “There’s fear in the house / Gotta come up on the pressure”. Judging by the three singles that have been released to date, ‘Radiate Like This’ is going to be an exceptional and long-awaited return to form by Warpaint.

Listen to ‘Hips’ HERE.

‘Radiate Like This’ follows their critically acclaimed debut EP Exquisite Corpse, 2010’s The Fool, 2014’s Warpaint and 2016’s Heads Up.

‘Radiate Like This’, is out on 6 May pre-save/pre-order HERE.

Warpaint are also embarking on a tour of the UK, Europe and America shortly, with more global dates to follow.
