TRACK: The Antlers – ‘Wheels Roll Home’

IT COMES as a surprise that The Antlers are possibly on track to a new album, more than six years after the last one. Especially after the frontman, Peter Silberman, had successfully started a solo career with the beautiful Impermanence. In fact, they have recently released a video for a new single, “Wheels Roll Home”, which you can see below.

“Wheels Roll Home” is arguably one of the simplest and most uplifting songs by The Antlers, a down-to-earth song about reuniting with a loved one – quite a stark contrast with respect to the heart-wrenching recount of terminal disease in Hospice and the more spiritual/ethereal moods of Familiars and Impermanence. Even musically, while Silberman’s soulful songwriting is still obvious, the sound is laid bare, far from their shoegazing/noisy past.

After the equally uplifting comeback by Fleet Foxes, recently out, this track definitely raises one’s curiosity for the next release by the Antlers.

The band is still signed to Transgressive (Anti-).
