Melbourne trio Tina Growls are turning the volume back up with Star Witness, the first taste of their debut album, due in early 2027.
Led by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Darcy Rock alongside her brother Dylan Rock on bass and drummer Lewellyn Irving, Tina Growls deal in alternative rock with some serious weight behind it. Grunge, hard rock and progressive tendencies collide with confessional songwriting and guitars that aren’t afraid to get ugly when required.
There are traces of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin in the band’s heavier instincts, while PJ Harvey, The Smashing Pumpkins and Placebo loom over their ’90s influences. Tool, Paramore and Screaming Females also feed into a sound that Tina Growls are steadily pulling into their own orbit.
Star Witness finds the trio tackling closure and the business of finally putting something to rest. Recorded with Brent Quirk at One Be Studios, the track marks the beginning of the band’s push towards their first full-length record.

It has been a long road to get there. Tina Growls have been playing around Melbourne since 2017, before taking a three-year hiatus and returning in 2023 with their sights firmly on recording the album.
