Few pop artists have spent the last decade dismantling the boundary between euphoria and emotional collapse quite like Tove Lo. Now, the Swedish artist is returning with sixth album ESTRUS, due September 18, alongside its first single, ‘I’m your girl right?’, a pulsing electro-pop track that leans further into the contradictions that have always powered her music.

Stream ‘I’m your girl right?’ HERE.

Backseat Mafia was fortunate enough to catch Tove Lo at an intimate show at Metro Theatre in 2022, where the closeness of the room only amplified the emotional directness that has made her such a singular pop presence.

That same tension runs through ESTRUS. Named after the biological term describing mammals in heat, the album pushes deeper into primal instinct and emotional disarray rather than offering neat resolutions. Drawing inspiration from The Knife, Robyn and the Swedish indie dance music she grew up around, Tove Lo worked alongside longtime collaborator Ludvig Söderberg, as well as Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser, crafting an album that appears determined to sit inside discomfort rather than escape it.

Lead single ‘I’m your girl right?’ captures that atmosphere immediately. The track moves with restless energy while still carrying the emotional ambiguity that has defined much of her catalogue. Its accompanying video, directed by Nogari and filmed outside São Paulo in a former monastery with more than 70 dancers, feels equally theatrical and unguarded. There’s beauty in it, but also unease, which has always been where Tove Lo does her most interesting work.

The album also features a collaboration with Stromae and arrives after a period where Tove Lo continued to expand her reach across both pop and club music. From breakthrough hits like ‘Habits (Stay High)’ and ‘Talking Body’ through to collaborations with Flume, Charli XCX, SG Lewis and Major Lazer, she has consistently managed to balance chart success with something far messier and more personal underneath.

Alongside the album announcement, Tove Lo has also revealed her 2026 ESTRUS Tour, beginning in North America this September before heading through the UK and Europe for her biggest shows there to date. Australian artist Mallrat will support across the North American dates, while Cobrah joins for New York and Rose Gray appears throughout the UK and EU run.

ESTRUS, the forthcoming album from Tove Lo is out September 18. Pre-Order/Save HERE.
