Track: Transatlantic – The Absolute Universe

Transatlantic

TRANSATLANTIC – the Prog Supergroup of Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Roine Stolt & Pete Trewavas – are set to release their fifth studio album ‘The Absolute Universe’, on the 5th February 2021 (see here). Before that the band have, so far, released two singles. First being Overture/Reaching For The Sky, the second single called ‘The Absolute Universe’.

Mike Portnoy comments:

“The 2nd release from the upcoming Transatlantic album ‘The Absolute Universe’ features our Swedish Genie Mr Roine Stolt on lead vocals”

“This piece also opens with another extended instrumental intro where I get to utilize my best Keith Moon acrobatics and leads to Roine’s beautiful, melodic vocals on the verses and choruses in the body of the song and climaxes with a majestic section with Neal Morse taking the lead vocal and one of the album’s main musical reoccurring themes.”

Packed full of over the top musicianship this track is not short of epic. The drums in particular would sound awesome on their own never mind as part of a full on prog . The track really starts to make sense once the vocals start as it takes the form of a rock ballad. With superb performances this is prog perfection, as expected from these guys.
