Californian band Soft Science recently released their fifth album ‘Sand’ through Shelflife Records (USA) and Spinout Nuggets (UK), and have just unveiled the video for the gorgeous track ‘Without’.
‘Without’ weaves a dreamy hypnotic soundscape that washes over you like a warm wave: circular instrumentation and breathy soft vocals that enchant: building up a repetition that draws you into its embrace. The ambulant bass is cut through by scything shimmering guitars that ebb and flow throughout. It’s an absolutely gorgeous track.
Directed and edited by Francesca Bonci (known for her work with The Dandy Warhols, Federale (BJM’s Collin Hegna), Pete International Airport, Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, and Tombstones In Their Eyes), the video is a kaleidoscope of colours that matches the hypnotic flow of the music – a sixties inflected surreal and dreamy production with a mysterious silhouette of a dancer:
A fittingly enchanting accompaniment to an enchanting track.
‘Sand’ is out now and well worth a visit – Soft Science exhibiting their usual dream pop mastery:
