New Tracks: Barrie – Clovers/Darjeeling plus album and tour news

Barrie produced, for me, one of the stand out singles of 2018, Tal Uno – a perfect slice of pop heaven from the EP ‘Singles’.

They have now announced a much anticipated album – ‘Happy to be Here’ due for release on 3 May 2019 as well as a tour that will take them across the US as well Europe. For a taste, two new singles have been released, both of which are brilliant.

The latest release, ‘Darjeeling’ is a gorgeous wall of jangling sounds with the haunting, beautiful melodic vocals that epitomise the band’s unique sound:

Both euphoric and melancholic at the same time, this is simply a delivered promise of what is to come from one of the most intriguing bands around at the moment. There is a layered and nuanced instrumentation that belies an apparent simplicity – just like the endearing video itself.

Earlier release, Clovers is just as beautifully enigmatic and memorable:

Barrie are perfecting the art of the perfect pop song – tunes that become firmly entrenched in the brain with hooks and refrains that are monumental. It is shimmering dream pop at its best. I absolutely adore them.

Barrie are Barrie Lindsay, Dominic Apa, Spurge Carter, Sabine Holler and Noah Prebish, based in Brooklyn. ‘Happy to be Here’ can be pre-ordered here. The track list is:

1. Darjeeling
2. Dark Tropical
3. Clovers
4. Habits
5. Saturated
6. Chinatown
7. Teenager
8. Geology
9. Casino Run
10. Hutch

Make sure you also listen their earlier EP ‘Singles’ – it’s a masterpiece.
