At Freo.Social, Maxïmo Park finally made their long-awaited return to Australia and treated the room to a sharp, celebratory set built around the 20th anniversary of A Certain Trigger. Tracks like Apply Some Pressure, Graffiti and Going Missing still landed with wiry urgency, while newer material proved the band are not content to trade on memory alone. Frontman Paul Smith led from the front with restless charisma, as the Fremantle crowd responded like they had been waiting seventeen years for exactly this night.
