Live: Powerhouse band FOZZY to rock the UK

For those who caught their headline show in Kentish Town in London last summer, it will come as no surprise that rock band FOZZY are hitting the road in the UK to rock cities such as London, Manchester and Glasgow. It promises to be a hell of a party!

If you’re not familiar, this is a band with pedigree. The first embers of the band began to smoulder in 2000, as they played around with cover versions and found their vibe. It took until 2010 before they said “let’s really give this a go”, and they’ve never looked back.

They have shared the stage with icons such as Metallica, KISS and Iron Maiden, endlessly touring their records in the US until their 7th offering – Judas – catapulted them in the mainstream consciousness. The title track has been streamed over 65 million times on Spotify and was sung word for word at All Elite Wrestling’s Wembley Stadium show in August.

Why so popular at an AEW show? Well, the band is fronted by WWE superstar Chris Jericho who has turned his considerable hand to rock and roll. Jericho translates all that pizzazz and showmanship from the ring to rock n roll, but then, there are a lot of similarities!

“It’s a rockstar persona in wrestling and a wrestling persona in rock ‘n’ roll.” Jericho explains. “They’re all reciprocal. When I first started (wrestling), I wasn’t the biggest guy, but I realised I could have the biggest personality. I looked at Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, David Lee Roth, and these great frontmen who can control a crowd and have them in the palm of their hands. That’s the basic concept, bottom line and secret to making it in show business. When you’re in front of a crowd, you have to connect with them and make sure they’re interested.”

And the UK is fully here for it!

“The UK has always been the second home for Fozzy and we always look forward to rockin’ with all of you!  The Spotlight tour is our biggest UK tour ever and we are stoked to bring the Fozzy party to your shores with new songs, a new show and the same Fozzy intensity & fun factor that you’ve come to demand and expect from us!”

The tour kicks off in Cardiff this week, supporting their 8th studio record BOOMBOX
