Live Review: Christine & The Queens / Rhodes – 3Olympia, Dublin 10.09.2023

The venue seemed apt for what followed. The theatrical nature of the headline act in particular suited 3Olympia, itself an old theatre married together to provide an unforgettable evening, with costume changes and intricate set decorations all part of the set.

Supported ably by Rhodes and his smart pop music, even in stripped down form, the night really belonged to Christine (Or Red as he now likes to be known). There wasn’t much between song chat, but the crowd – including a large number who’d travelled over from the uk and Paris to see the band, lapped it up anyway.

Strolling through their hits, the crowd seemed to connect almost spiritually with them rather than go wild – not hushed but there was a reverence about the relationship of audience to artist.
