The Enmore Theatre hums with anticipation, a buzzing hive of fans relieved that Sydney’s muggy summer drizzle has taken a break for the night. It’s the kind of evening where the weather feels like a reprieve rather than a hindrance – the streets outside still glisten from a week of rain, neon lights dancing off the damp pavement as punters file into the iconic venue which feels like a cocoon of warmth and restless energy, everyone shoulder to shoulder, eagerly waiting for Natalie Jane to make her Sydney debut.

The 20-year-old pop sensation is originally from New Jersey but is now based in Los Angeles, and is currently on her first-ever Australian tour. Visiting Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, the Sick To My Stomach Tour coincides with the release of her highly anticipated EP of the same name, which dropped in September 2024.

The crowd is a mosaic of ages and styles, some fans sport merch emblazoned with Hot Girls have Tummy Issues, while others clutch phones prepped for what’s sure to be an Instagrammable night. Up in the dress circle two young girls are posing and dancing to Chappell Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club.’ First up is local hero Oliver Cronin who much to the crowd’s delight is joined by Charleysux for a duet.

But tonight the focus is on Natalie Jane, and for her the accolades just keep on coming, she sold out venues North America, Europe and the UK on her Where Am I Again? Tour last year and was one of 2023’s most viewed artists on TikTok in the US. GRAMMY.com named her “One of the Artists to Watch in 2024.” Natalie Jane also made People’s “Talented 2024 Spring Emerging Artists” list. Not bad for someone who started writing songs at the age of eight! When she hits the stage the crowd sings along to every song with conviction-surely a testament to Natalie Jane’s magnetic presence and knack for crafting deeply resonant songs. Flanked only by a drummer she owns the room. Her presence is taut and electrifying, every gesture deliberate, every note a reminder that a full band isn’t necessary when conviction does the heavy lifting.

Natalie Jane Setlist, Enmore Theatre, Sydney 10 January 2025.
