Hi Janet, thanks for talking to us.

No, no! Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me!

You’ve just released your second collection of Christmas songs. Why is that important to you?

After I realised “December Daze” last Christmas, I decided to have a listen when I got home for the holidays. As much as I loved the EP, I felt as though there were a few moods in which I had left out. Since I was in full swing holiday mode, I realised there was more emotions to the holiday season than I thought. It’s not always mistletoe and mulled wine, there are feelings of loneliness, anticipation, gratitude etc that I’d overlooked. I wanted to encapsulate these feelings into songs, hence the title “Little Lights” of this year’s release. Each song is its own little emotion.

What are you going to be doing this Christmas?

This Christmas I’ll be home on the last leg of my tour! I’ll be playing my last show in my hometown, so from that point on I’ll be home for the holidays. My plans this year includes: Sleeping, getting fat and seeing my family and friends ha! I’ll also be writing a few songs to kick start me into the new year!

You started your career on a TV talent show. Would you recommend this route for other young artists trying to make it in the music biz?

It’s all relative really. If the person believes that this is the best platform for them, then it more than likely is. It’s all down to the artist and the route they wish to take in their career.

Do you still talk to any of the other contestants from your year?

In all honesty I talk to them about as much as I talk to any of my friends, which is seldom. I don’t really have time for much these days, I only really see everyone on Facebook but I ensure that we all keep in touch on the internet!

You’re out on tour now. Do you enjoy life on the road?

I love tour life! I’m a fan of travelling in general so it’s just a massive bonus that I get to do it for my ‘job’. For me it’s the perfect opportunity to put faces to the @ handles! I get to meet a lot of people that I communicate with on the internet everyday, so it’s great to finally see people in person and get the opportunity to perform for them! I don’t like to keep my feet on the ground for too long so touring is perfect for my wandering inclination!

Does doing the tour mean there’s new music in the pipeline?

It does indeed! I’ve been working on my album now for around 2 years and I’ve written around 45 tracks so far. I want to take January and February out to write some more though! I want the album to be the best that it can be and I think I’m just a few great songs away from that.

What music inspires you as a writer, and as an artist?

All music! When I sit down and listen to an album, I can’t help but think about the man hours that went into creating it. I tend to listen to artists that have a story to tell because I like to put myself in someone else shoes for a little bit. A lot of the artists I listen to have very introspective writing habits which I throughly enjoy listening to because I feel like I’ve got to know a little part of their soul through the music. It inspires me to be braver and not to hold back from writing about significant events in my life.

Wildest dreams. Who would you most like to duet with?

I think a duet with Ed Sheeran would be absolute life goals! I’m a massive fan of his voice and his writing as I’m sure many people are!

What are you looking forward to in 2017?

The creating process of an album! I’m just so excited to create again! It’s been too long since the first album so I’m itching to get this on out there!
