After a four-year absence, Against The Current are set to make their long-awaited return to Australian stages, with the New York trio announcing two exclusive headline performances as part of their Till Death & Back Tour in January 2027.

The band will perform at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on January 21 before heading to Sydney’s Liberty Hall on January 22, marking their first Australian appearances since their acclaimed 2023 Nightmares & Daydreams tour.

Since forming in 2011, vocalist Chrissy Costanza, guitarist Dan Gow and drummer Will Ferri have evolved from teenage pop-rock hopefuls into one of modern rock’s most recognisable independent success stories. From their 2014 debut EP Infinity through albums In Our Bones and Past Lives, the trio have continually refined their sound, embracing heavier production, sharper songwriting and a fearless pop-rock aesthetic.

The band’s recent output signals another bold creative chapter. Following the success of 2024 singles silent stranger, blindfolded and good guy, which have amassed more than 40 million streams combined, Against The Current have continued building anticipation for their forthcoming album with explosive new tracks Heavenly and Dead Man Walking.

Away from the rock world, the trio have also left an indelible mark on gaming culture through their collaboration with Riot Games on Legends Never Die. Originally created for the 2017 League of Legends World Championship, the anthem has since surpassed one billion global streams, introducing the band to an entirely new audience.

Celebrating their 15th anniversary in 2026, Against The Current continue to expand a fiercely loyal international fanbase built through relentless touring alongside artists including Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte and All Time Low, as well as their own sold-out headline shows across the globe.

Their previous Australian visit left a lasting impression. Reviewing the Sydney show on the Nightmares & Daydreamstour, Backseat Mafia praised the band’s commanding performance, noting that “the energy in the room was undeniable” as the trio delivered a set filled with passion, precision and a crowd singing every word back at them.

With a new album on the horizon and an exciting new era taking shape, Against The Current’s return promises to be one of Australia’s must-see rock events of early 2027.
