Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Anderson East announces his Rounder Records debut and first album in four years ‘Worthy’, to be released on May 30.
‘Worthy’ is a reintroduction to East, showcasing him as a more confident, commanding and affecting artist. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Dave Cobb, the immediately arresting 10-track collection is inspired by a pure love of song and sound. Dripping with Muscle Shoals radiance and soulful horns, the album is a portrait of the artist and person East has become, soundtracking his journey of personal and creative resilience, redemption and transformation.
East has always treasured the magic of musicians together in a room, conjuring in real time. Forced to shape 2021’s ‘Maybe We Never Die’ alone in his Nashville studio as the pandemic swept the country, he abhorred the process, even if he liked the results.
‘Worthy’ on the other hand serves as a corrective, as it radiates with creative collision. East tapped friends and famed counterparts like Grammy-winning songwriters Natalie Hemby (Kacey Musgraves, Lee Ann Womack, Lauren Daigle), Lori McKenna (Brandy Clark, Tim McGraw) and Aaron Raitiere (Whiskey Myers, Ella Langley), the Grammy-nominated Ashley Monroe (Caitlyn Smith), and Emmy-winning songwriter Trent Dabbs (Ingrid Michaelson, The Lone Bellow), to help capture the album’s moments of vulnerability, surrealist confessions and unvarnished testimonials.
East has shared the album’s first preview, ‘Say I Love You’. One of the more candid moments on the new album, the track encapsulates his feeling of creative liberation, with East’s semi-whispered croon rising through an enveloping Wall of Sound.

East has been hailed by NPR, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Billboard, and performed on Austin City Limits, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Late Show with Stephen Colbert. His #1 AAA hit “All On My Mind” (29M+ streams and counting) spent four months in the top 10 and was nominated for a Grammy for Best American Roots Performance. In addition to his own solo work, East has produced and/or and written with Chris Stapleton, Natalie Hemby, Lori McKenna, The Red Clay Strays, Dustin Lynch, Wilder Woods, and Michael Bolton.
