Eora/Sydney band A Swift Farewell have made a blistering return with their new single ‘The Haunting’, featuring contributions from Amariah from Melbourne band Future Static. It accompanies an announcement by the band that they will be releasing their debut EP ‘Hollow Threats’ on 6 June 2025.

We’ve been following this band with great interest for number of years: they bleed an eviscerating punk blast that is mixed with a pop sensibility and a quiet loud ethic filled with a luminescent power. ‘The Haunting’ has a heavier thunder to it, leavened by the extraordinary range of guest vocals from Amariah and an intro of children’s voices. There are a throaty death metal vocals mixed in with the sweeter melodies – an incredible multi-layered delivery that is pulse quickening, leaving you breathless at the end.

The lyrics are emotive and raw, revealing the anxieties of relationships:

Cause the truth is
I’m not who you thought
Our life’s consumed by the ghosts in the walls
It’s haunting me
What’s left will never be found
If I set you free, would you leave me to drown

This is a band that is maturing and growing with a justified self-confidence. The accompanying video is a straightforward dynamic performance piece set in a bleak room, that captures the band’s vitality and passion:

Released through Dreambound Music, the single is out now and available to download and stream here.

A Swift Farewell will be playing this Easter at the Burdekin Hotel and in Melbourne in May – full details and tickets here.
