Sixteen years after last setting foot on Australian stages, Eric Hutchinson is finally heading back. This November, the acclaimed American singer-songwriter will embark on his first-ever Australian headline tour, bringing his piano-driven blend of pop, soul and witty storytelling to theatre audiences across the East Coast.
For Australian fans, the return has been a long time coming. Hutchinson first built a devoted following during his visits supporting Jason Mraz and Kelly Clarkson in 2008 and 2009, before his breakout hit Rock & Roll found an even wider audience after featuring on the hugely popular television drama Packed to the Rafters. The song went on to earn Platinum certification in Australia, while his debut album Sounds Like This climbed into the ARIA Top 40.
Over the years since, Hutchinson has quietly assembled a catalogue spanning seven studio albums and more than 105 million streams, cultivating a loyal international fanbase through his blend of soulful melodies, sharp lyricism and effortless charm. While his music has continued to evolve, his gift for pairing infectious hooks with warm, conversational songwriting has remained his defining strength.
The tour arrives in support of his latest album, Repeating Myself, released earlier this year. The record marks a return to the piano-led pop and soul that first introduced him to audiences, while injecting fresh energy into his songwriting and expanding an already accomplished catalogue.
Joining Hutchinson on the tour will be recent Australian Idol winner Marshall Hamburger, whose soulful vocals and charismatic performances make him a fitting addition to an evening celebrating accomplished songwriting and heartfelt musicianship.
