News: Heavy Set Woman Release Hopeful Pop-Rap Single ‘Girl’

Heavy Set Woman have released their latest single, ‘Girl’, an upbeat pop-rap anthem that combines infectious energy with a message of resilience and optimism. The duo, known for their genre-blending approach and instinctive songwriting style, describe the track as one of their most adventurous releases to date.

Formed through years of musical collaboration, Heavy Set Woman is the creative partnership of lyricist and vocalist William “Willo” Serrallés and multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and recording engineer Gumpi Falcon. The pair first connected through a mutual friend from Berklee College of Music and developed their musical chemistry through years of informal jam sessions before Heavy Set Woman emerged as a fully realised project.

The duo’s music is built around experimentation and creative freedom, drawing influences from pop, rock, soul, and funk while avoiding being defined by a single genre. Their latest release expands that approach by moving into rap-pop territory, combining rhythmic vocal delivery, bright melodies, and uplifting production.

‘Girl’ explores themes of resilience, hope, and finding positivity in difficult moments. Rather than following a fixed storyline, Heavy Set Woman leave the meaning open for listeners to interpret through their own experiences.

“It’s about life and its intricacies,” the band explains. “The song is also about how happiness can be found and experienced in the most dire situations.”

The single reflects the duo’s wider artistic philosophy of creating music that encourages personal connection rather than offering simple answers. By pairing energetic pop hooks with rap influences and an optimistic message, Heavy Set Woman continue to expand their sound while staying true to their collaborative roots.
