Kim Wilde has confirmed her return to Australia in 2026, bringing the Closer Tour to local stages and revisiting a catalogue that has travelled well beyond its original era.

Emerging in the early 80s with ‘Kids In America’, Wilde quickly established herself as one of British pop’s defining voices. Subsequent chart toppers ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’ and ‘If I Can’t Have You’ cemented her commercial standing, while tracks such as ‘Cambodia’, ‘You Came’, ‘View From A Bridge’ and ‘Chequered Love’ broadened her reach across Europe and Australia.

Across four decades, Wilde has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, remaining one of the most successful British female artists of the 1980s. Her profile has extended beyond music, notably with a Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, but it is her recorded output and live performances that continue to anchor her legacy.

Australia has long been a receptive market. Through the 80s and 90s, Wilde’s singles were mainstays on local charts and radio, and the sustained demand for her live appearances suggests that connection has endured.

The Closer Tour offers a chance to revisit those formative hits in a contemporary setting, underscoring a career defined less by nostalgia than by longevity.
